Laminate Ceiling and Wall Planks, Are They the Next Best Thing?

Laminate isn't just for floors anymore. Some manufacturers of laminate flooring have expanded their lines to include laminates for ceilings and walls. The technology used in the ceiling and wall planks is the same as the flooring planks. The ceiling planks are not as thick as flooring, but because it's not abused like floors, it's not needed.

The attachment of laminate to ceilings and walls is accomplished by using special clips to allow for the movement of the laminate planks. The expansion and contraction of laminate is minimal at best. The light weight of laminate makes it very easy for one person to accomplish an installation.

Wood can expand and contract up to 1/4" per 8 feet. If you have a large areas covered in wood this contraction can open up gaps in the joints. This is especially important in the winter months when the humidity is lower than other times of the year.
